Objective

The educational objective of the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology program is to train engineers who can enter and advance in the profession of information technology, and to continue their education towards higher degrees in this and related fields. With regard to program outcomes, graduates must be able to evaluate current and emerging technologies; identify user needs; design user-friendly interfaces, apply, configure, and manage IT technologies, assess IT impact on individuals, organizations, and the environment, and apply fundamental IT concepts and strategies to real-world problems.

The main objective of the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology is to train engineers who:

1. Have a technical and basic business education with an appropriate combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, which will enable them to enter and advance in the profession of information technology, management information system, and business administration.

2. Possess the necessary foundation to continue their formal education and obtain advanced degrees in information technology, management information systems, business administration, or other related fields.

3. Can engage effectively in oral, written, and graphical communication and are comfortable in interpersonal and public settings.

4. Have the knowledge and skills that enable them to participate in life-long learning and adapt to an ever-changing, global technological and business environment.

5. Have a well-rounded education that enables them to conduct themselves as responsible professionals and global citizens who are aware of ethical issues and societal needs and problems.

Career Opportunities

IT industry has presently evolved into one of the largest industries and also one of the largest employers in the world. Because of this a broad range of opportunities are available for information technology professionals. In other words, a degree in information technology can help nearly anyone with an interest in computers to find a job they are qualified for in an industry they find exciting. In fact, Information Technology professionals work in designing hardware, software, communications networks, internet applications, and more.
