Admission of urban planning students in Sheikh Baha'i University began in 2002, which was renamed to urban engineering in 2005 with a change of title. Graduates of this field become members of the Engineering System Organization and enjoy the benefits and facilities of this organization.
In this way, after three years of membership in the organization, they are eligible to receive a legal employment license in the field of urban development and are allowed to do things such as separating large urban lands and around the city, reviewing and proposing walling for main streets and important passages. Urban, study of urban densities and determining densities, will have an urban landscape proposal and .... Courses in this field, like other fields, are divided into five categories: basic, main, specialized, general and optional, but the main difference between this field and other fields is that most of its courses are practical or workshop. Each practical unit is equivalent to two theoretical units and each workshop unit is equivalent to three theoretical hours.
In the first year of their studies, the students of this field will get acquainted with the theoretical and practical foundations of this field in four courses: Architecture 1, Architecture 2, Design 1 and Design 2. After that, from the third semester of their studies, their workshop courses begin under the title of urban planning plan, which pass the prerequisites specified in the curriculum from urban planning plan 1 to urban planning plan 5, and finally the final plan. From Urban Plan 1 to Urban Plan 3, projects are defined as a group, and in this way, students are introduced to how to work in groups and work together. After that, in the last workshops, ie urban planning plans 4 and 5, the projects are individual and the individual abilities of the students are evaluated.
The scientific and professional abilities of students in this field during the four academic years are not only evaluated in course projects (individual or group) but also these students during their studies in other forms such as holding exhibitions, participating in visits. Science and urban classes, holding exams and practical competitions, etc. are challenged. In such programs, communication and social skills and the sense of group cooperation of students, which is very important in the field of urban planning profession, are strengthened.
One of the main goals of urban planning exhibitions, in addition to showing the educational process of this field during the eight semesters, is to strengthen the students' sense of cooperation by doing joint team work during the exhibition. The process of forming an exhibition is such that after the time and place of the exhibition is determined, the students refer to the professors of the group for their advice and guidance for designing and implementing the exhibition so that they can adapt their new urban planning ideas. Implement the principles of Islamic architecture and urban planning.
In these exhibitions, students show the different spaces of the Islamic city in a schematic way and create spaces to display student projects. These spaces are created in such a way that the visitor from the beginning of entering the exhibition to the end of the visit can be well acquainted with the general process of urban science education during the eight semesters of study for students in this field.
At the end of each exhibition, a survey of visitors is conducted, which has shown the satisfaction of visitors over the past years. It should be mentioned that this university was one of the first universities to offer the field of urban engineering and thanks to God and the efforts of the esteemed founding board, the esteemed group director and its faculty members, it has been one of the best universities in this field.
Many graduates of urban planning of this university have graduated from or are studying in higher levels of prestigious universities in Iran and the world. In the professional field, the graduates work in different organs such as the deputy of urban planning and architecture of different cities, municipalities and reputable architectural and urban planning consulting companies. A number of graduates also teach in different universities. Also, due to the efforts of the director of this field, the university library in the field of urban planning is at a very high level in terms of diversity and number of books, so that 1223 volumes of Persian books and 168 volumes of Latin books are available in the library.
